Why the Leopard 48?

When our youngest went to college we bought the Hunter 49 Sailboat in Tortola, BVI and cruised up and down the Caribbean part time over a three-year period. This was fantastic! Because we were still working full time, we would visit the boat for a few days or a week at a time and leave it at a safe marina with a caretaker until we could return. Eventually we planned to sail to Panama, through the Canal, and up to California. As Randy considered this float plan, he struggled with the idea of this trip on a monohull sailboat, which would naturally roll on a downwind passage. This led us to begin our research of catamarans. As a result of the knowledge obtained from boat shows, boating magazines, sail blogs, and previous charters, the Leopard 48 was a clear choice. We believe that Robertson and Caine have designed the perfect platform for a cruising couple. The highlights are the modern interior, forward cockpit and speed.
