Another Day in….

We flew into Nassau and usually we just head to the Nobu restaurant at Atlantis and then go gambling and enjoy the Nassau nightlife. Not this time. We were tired of the crowd and the scene and Lennie didn’t even want to dress up which was unusual. You see we had a great two weeks cruising the Bahamas a month before so this time we just wanted to get back out there and cruise. After a great night’s sleep we departed before sun up to make the run to Harbour Island and transit the dreaded “Devil’s Backbone”, which is a couple of miles of dense coral, and your insurance company will not cover you unless you have a pilot onboard which is what I call a FUN day!

If you live anywhere except Harbour Island you call it by its name. However if you live on Harbour Island you shorten it and say it with such an accent that it’s barely recognizable.  Once we got that straightened out it was time to find the beach that made this place famous. Well that and the boat full of loyalists that were shipwrecked here during the war of independence.  When you see it for the first time you assume there was intervention in some way but there wasn’t. You see there is some offshore coral that breaks up and helped create this beach and the mix of colors make it appear….well…..Pink!

So we thought

At the end of this video you will hear me say something that now gives me stomach pain. Of course we were talking about the awful storm that was hurtling itself toward Marsh Harbour where Dorian made a direct hit. We left the boat thinking we would be back in a week for another week on Happy Together. Unfortunately we had to fly back 48 hours later to sail away from the projected path.

Please enjoy this next episode of SV Happy Together. Please have a beverage in your hand and get ready to tap your feet. The music ROCKS!
