I’m a bit behind on posting, but I have learned that some of you do not follow Instagram or YouTube, so here you go. After we left Fiji, we sailed down to New Zealand, where we spent a couple of months touring the North and South Islands. We had an amazing time there and documented it all on our YouTube channel, as we did for the entire trip across the Pacific in 2025. We completed some maintenance on the boat in the spring of ’26 and put the boat on a ship and shipped it to Spain in the Mediterranean. Lennie and I flew to Europe in July and spent three months cruising Spain, France, and Italy. Now, we had planned to spend four or five months, but could not get an extended visa – 90 days is all you get. We made the most of them. I was not filming for YouTube this summer because I’m taking a break after creating the three new seasons, which were seasons 7, 8, and 9. Season 7 was learning to sail the boat in the Caribbean, and 8 and 9 were our trip across the Pacific. I switched to the Instagram format because it’s much quicker and easier to get content up, and I’ve honed my editing skills. If you haven’t seen any of our reels, go into Instagram, look up S/V Happy Together, and check out some of our reels from the last three months. A week ago, we launched episode 12, which was the last video for season 9 and the final weeks of our touring in New Zealand. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. Link below.
It’s been five years since we signed the contract to build Happy Together. We had an amazing time visiting South Africa twice during the build process, and then three and one-half years of flat-out sailing, essentially halfway around the world. So many places and memories. We can’t believe we took so much off the bucket list. We are now putting the boat back on a ship, and it’s going to head to the Caribbean this December. We will spend the ’26-’27 winter season cruising our favorite old haunts in the Caribbean. This will be a different kind of cruise for us, since we’ve always had an agenda, a place to go, and a big trip planned. This winter, it will just be diving, hiking, and cruising some of the best sailing waters in the world, and we know because we’ve been a lot of places. LOL.
The other decision, besides shipping the boat home, is that we’ve listed Happy Together for sale. That’s right. We’ve achieved our objectives for this build, and we’ve been sailing in the trade winds since 2012, starting with our Hunter 49, then our Leopard 48 (which we sailed 20,000 miles to California and back from Florida), a brief year on the Leopard 50 until COVID wiped out those plans and then the big trip and the Med with the Kinetic. We have another project that we’re working on that I can’t reveal just yet, but we’ll enjoy the Caribbean this winter and the Northeast next summer. When the boat sells, we’ll move on to the next adventure, and it’s a big one. There’s a big destination as well.
We’ll have a new Happy Together, but the adventure and fun stay the same. Thanks for joining along.
